Lauren James-Davies (b. 2003) is a visual artist living and working in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her work explores nature and the diverse ecology surrounding her through watercolour. In her practice, James-Davies uses art to understand the nonhuman species with whom we coexist, believing that art can serve as an educational tool to foster a deeper comprehension of the world. Her larger-than-life works come to fruition through her use of collage, meticulous attention to detail, and experimentation with colour and form. James-Davies majors in Visual Arts and is graduating with a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has participated in several shows at Emily Carr, including two annual drawing exhibitions: “The Liveliness of Drawing” (2023) and “Traces” (2024), as well as The Neighbourhood Galleries’ “That Which Surrounds Us” (2025).
